Down on the farm!

This is the massive farm that consumes my energy but gives me great pleasure at the same time. Good thing it is only a HOBBY FARM!!!!

Angels!

Here are my babies Leslie holding the black little doe and Robin holding the little red boy. My grandkids would be pictured here but they are scardy cats!

My new little angels!

I was awakened this morning to my dear husband saying "You need to come down to the barn and see your new baby". Of course I thought he was just kidding and that would be a really mean joke as it was 6:30 am on my first day off to be able to sleep in.

We ran to the barn and there was one, no two, no THREE babies. Yes new Nubian triplets. One little doe and two bucks. They are really precious. I have a lot to learn now about milking goats. This will be an adventure!

Still a nurse!

Frankie is home from the hospital and he is on home health haha with me as his nurse. He has physical therapy 5 times a day where he has a towel placed under his belly and pull him up and help him to place some weight on his hind legs. He is also on prednisone and antibiotics twice daily. He is doing right much better at this time but there is no way to see the future. DH built him the best little "playpen" on Sunday, however it is not for play this time it is for confinement as he has to keep from dragging his legs and rest. It's really hard not to get him excited when he sees us coming. He tries to stand and drag the legs if we talk to him so we have to be real quiet and not stimulate him and he does pretty good at staying still. We have to do this for 21 days and he is an outside dog thus, NOT POTTY TRAINED. What fun.

Well I did a bad and quit my job in the ER on Saturday. I had already turned in my notice because I was promised 4 months ago when I was hired that I would be put on dayshift and then recently found out that I would not be going to days anytime in the future that she didn't know why she told me that I would. I can not work 12 hour nights and continue to be married. Either he would off me because I am a ***** or because I don't let him sleep from tossing and turning, or that he can't sleep when I am not there. (You know that is really nice though that he feels he needs me there beside him to sleep, that is true love).

I however would end up offing him due to the fact that I am a ***** or the fact that I am an incredibly lite and I mean LITE sleeper. I have the best hearing and he can pluck a hair out of his head outside on the other side of the house and I will hear it hit the ground. That is with a fan going full blast beside my bed and benadryl or Nyquil on board. I tell my daughters that I have a drug problem, uppers and downers, Nyquil/benadryl to go down and Excedrin to come back up again. I am sure that that has to be good for a body!

Well it only took one business day to land a Fulltime get this """"""7AM to 3PM""""""" position. They say there is a nursing shortage but I have found it is only a shortage of nurses who will work nights. It is in a nursing home that has a wonderful reputation for great resident care and also they take care of their employees. It is a not-for-profit facility and they are able to offer some really great perks. I actually was offered the position yesterday (I interviewed on Fri) at 12:30 and was there having my physical at 2:30. I start fulltime orientation tomorrow. No need to waste time I guess, I mean what would I do with a week off hahaha Did I mention that it was a really big increase in pay, a $3000 sign on bonus, and 12 miles closer to home one way. They always give signons for nursing not just beacause they are short staffed. They only had 2 positions and have over 500 employees, not bad but I will have to see for myself.

I am really looking forward to dayshift. Just imagine one day I will be back in the swing of things and at 8 PM I will start getting really sleepy, get in bed at 9 pm and sleep like a baby all night. Oh my I can't wait. I will also have time to milk my goat, due to freshen in a couple weeks, work in the garden & can veggies, and take the boat to the lake and play on our land near the lake on weekends with the family. We will just set up the pop up camper for now until we can start building.

DH wants to build a basement and cover it and live in it until we can build a log house on top as we get the money. I have always wanted an underground house but DH has been talked out of that by a contractor friend of his. But that's OK I love log homes too.

Frankie is in the hospital

Frankie and I were in fact the first to be seen this morning by Dr Mitzi. She said he had a bulging disc and would have to stay for steroid injections and IV steroids to harden off the tendon that covers the disc to keep it from protruding into the spinal cord and causing paralysis. He still has feelings in both hind legs which was a good sign. He will probably be in for 3 days and come home on oral medication and strict bedrest.

She also recomended having him neutered once we got him thru this crisis because she does not want him to take a chance and hurt his back again and the fact that he will probably be getting prostrate trouble soon anyway. There goes any chance in raising a litter of pups out of Frankie now. Oh well I just want him to be OK. Dr Mitzi said this would run around $200 or less. I can squeeze that in I guess.

I hope everyone is having a blessed day!

Sick pup

Well here I am up at 2:00 in the morning again. Darn night shift. I am so messed up on when to sleep and how long. I may only sleep 4-5 hours or I may want to sleep 24 at a time. I have 3 more weeks of night shifts to go and I vow to never work them again. Unless I can't find anything that doesn't require nights and unless I have to financially or if DH says I have to!

It has been a sad night anyway you look at it. Frankie our 4 1/2 year old Miniature Daschund had been missing for 2 days and we found him last night in the woods dragging his back legs. DH's big coonhound was up in the kennel in heat and Frankie being the big stud he is (all 5 lbs) will run himself in the grave when the females are that way. He runs many many many laps around the pen and will not leave their side for 2 weeks not even to eat. Of course we feed him and the food eventually leaves but you wouldn't be able to tell that he was the one consuming it as skinny as he gets during this spell.

We are not sure if a bigger dog got in a fight with him or exactly what happened. He does not have any abrasions on him and he does not appear to be sore. He has always been an outside dog as DH does not allow for any animals to be in the house, except of course the plethora of parakeets that have come and gone over the years but he wasn't happy with them either. Come to think of it they were here only when I worked dayshift, all the whistling I would never have slept then either.

Back to Frankie. We are so rural here that we knew their would be no vet within miles to see him last night so he has been inside in a nice warm box tonight and appears to be so happy but it breaks my heart to see him like this. He will be at Dr Mitzi's the first in line this morn when her doors open. She is a wonderful vet and so friendly. Just the cute little country vet that everyone loves. I have no problem when I ask DH to take the animals to the vet for me now!

Leslie now has her own blog and highspeed wireless and is so happy with it. Her Emma has been really sick for several days with what is probably the flu. We have seen a lot of it in the ER the past couple weeks. yuck yuck

Robin has been really busy making quilts and I am so jealous. I have been a slug for several days. I did however make it upstairs last night and pieced 4 blocks of a new pattern that is really cool and easy to do. Not sure of the name but I will post as soon as I find it and will post pics too.

Better go now Benadryl is kicking in and I am in for a stressful day. Pray for Frankie please.
