Out here in the country....

it's been crazy busy!

Stylin on the stylin studio.
What ya think about that blue sky?
I love it.

I have been getting some new clients by word of mouth!!

WOOTWOOT!!

Maybe I will soon have time to get some real advertising done ;-)

Take note of the sign.

It says "weeder wanted".

Let me tell you, a weeder is wanted here!

My flowers have been consumed by weeds this season.

Not enough time in the day to get all the chores finished.

My job away from home is now over and I am on to better things and I am very excited to do so.

Robin and Morgan were here last week.

Can you believe Morgan has her drivers permit?

Man I am getting old!

Little Sister Lillie was here too!

They get the hand above the head while sleeping thing from their Papa Danny!

Miss blue eyes!

She is the sweetest baby ever!!!

We did some cherry picking a couple weeks ago with friends!

The kids had a blast.

Emma at Lovers Leap Mountain Overlook.

My Prince Charming!

Colton and Emma and the beautiful view!

I am back now and I am ready to conquer the world!

My head is chock full of new ideas and inspirations.

I will be busy as a bee trying to get those ideas to fruition, so bear with me.

I will keep you posted.....

The Fairy's Rest is hopping!

Morgan
Danny

Emma

Colton and Emma

Morgan...(I plan to do this one in charcoal)

Just when I get ready to go to work The Fairy's Rest gets to rolling too!! That's a good thing though! We were able to go down ourselves for a 24 hr jaunt on Sunday evening. We had a great time too! We had a nice weinie roast using the tractor wheel as a fire ring....nice touch Danny! Our neighbor, Jesse, came over and we had a really nice cool evening under the stars. The weather has cooled down and could not have been any prettier this weekend!!
We have such beautiful Autumns here in SW Virginia and I am ready for the leaves to change colors. I can't really believe that I am feeling that way so soon. I think it was the super hot summer that we have had!!
We had such a peaceful laid back time on Sunday evening with Jesse, slept very well in the cool crispness of the night....as guests....that was way cool!! Til the smoke alarm went off at 4:30 AM for NO reason and scared the beegeesies out of me. lololol Not too funny when you remember that the last thing you did outside was have a FIRE, even though it was watered down with the water hose! We had no work there to do, no painting to be done, no cleaning, we did mow but oh well we won't dwell on that one, no decorating, no gravels to haul, no decks to build, etc etc.......we were REAL guests!!
I tried to go in with the mind set that it belonged to someone else....you know as if we were paying guests so I could hunt for things that could be wrong and let the owners know about them. I searched and searched for problems and the only things I could find were there is a picture that needs to be moved about 1" in the living room and there is not enough time in my life set aside to stay there more often!!!!!!
We both really needed this R&R and the time to fall back in love with the place.
It worked. We both were so happy!!
Of course this trip was topped off with a great picnic lunch on the outdoor picnic table with Leslie and her family and Morgan.
No pictures....way too laid back to think about getting the camera out.......
We then hooked to the boat and went to the lake for one last excursion before the cool temps.
The water was barely warm enough to swim but we did.
Sad that summer went by so fast, but looking forward to a great autumn!
~~~
We have some great weekend guests coming to The Fairy's Rest this weekend too.
She is a friend of mine.....Chelsa is a friend of everyones actually....one of those young, beautiful, super contagious people who everyone wants to be around!!
She is also a professional photographer!! woot woot!!
Look out folks, there will be lots of really cool photos of the place coming soon!!
She joined The Fairy's Rest on Facebook, before she even knew it was my place, and asked if she could rent the place for a weekend as a birthday surprise for her Mother!!
She said her parents have always loved Fairystone Park!
She had the sweetest comments on the place too!
I feel so honored to have her and her family as my guests!!
Chelsa has a blog and you can see some of her work here.
She is a very very busy lady and with all the weddings and senior portraits she doesn't have time to update her blog very often. You can always join her page on Facebook and see her work too. Chelsa Yoder Photography on Facebook.
(I hope that link works for you.)
She is just as excited to have the time to get away with her family as I am that she is coming!
I can not wait to see how she captures the place on film!!!
I sure hope they all enjoy their stay as much as we did!
That's a great birthday present for her Mother, don't you think?
She's a good kid!!
When you spend the day with your Granny....
you smile ALL day long.
you play with cute puppies.
you play with cute baby goats.
you spoil cute puppies.
you make cute puppies mean.
you clean and scrub all the animals watering tubs and feed troughs with Granny.
you feed animals.
you dodge all the hummingbirds at the feeders.
you "play" (that's what he called it) in the garden.
you discuss and compare your mother's and your granny's gardens.
you smile all over yourself while picking yellow wax beans.
you beg to help break them.
you eat fresh cucumbers from granny's garden which is your favorite food.
you admire really cute puppies.
you feed cute puppies.
you love really cute puppies.
you swim in the pond, just you and granny.
you pick wild blackberries.
you milk goats.
you watch a lot of cartoons on "the cool cartoon channel, Boomerang".
you rub it in to your little sister that she didn't get to stay with granny and do all this cool stuff.
you let that little sis and your mother eat dinner with you that you picked from the garden.
you help papa repair the chicken lot so the possum doesn't get any more baby chickens.
you whine that the possum has alreay killed 3 baby chicks.
you listen to your little sis say 427 times "it's not fair that I didn't get to stay here today".
you laugh at her.
you end the day with a gut bursting dinner of beef hash over biscuits, cucumbers, german pink tomatoes, chive smashed potatoes, yellow wax beans, green beans and a big ole glass of sweet tea.
you whine because you ate way too much to be able to cut the watermelon that has been in the spring box cooling for a couple days!!
all in all I think Colton really really enjoyed his stay because he asked to stay again tomorrow so we could do more fun stuff!!
(Nana's Yellow Wax Bean recipe)
fabulous and sooooo easy!!!
A guest for race weekend!
My man's hardworking hand is holding our weekend guest at The Fairy's Rest.
He was in town for the big race at the Martinsville Speedway. I understand he is a big Dale Jr fan. I just really wish he had went to the website and made his reservations instead of just showing up unannounced!
We went down yesterday for me to have a little R&R which was going to include bird watching, I had my bird book and camera in hand. I didn't even have to leave the warm comfortable house to get to see one up close and personal!! Leslie and all the grandpunks were with us. As soon as we arrived, the living room looked exactly as it did in the last picture that I posted with the furniture still in the middle of the floor. The children all plopped down in the middle of all the chaos to play a game of Old Maid. Then it happened. Leslie just happened to spot the little race fan peeping out from under the sofa! Well the race began at that time. There was scurrying around the track like you have never seen before at The Fairy's Rest. Wait a minute here.....what happened to my R&R????? It turned into one of our hilarious bird in the house stories that will definitely go down in history like the great "Bat in the house story", only we got this one on video! Morgan had her video camera in her pocket and captured it all, well right up until he actually resurfaced and then all you can hear are girly screams and the camera is getting footage of anything but the bird capture!! She shows the ceilings then the floors then the ceilings. This was sooooo funny!!!!!! Well I got my birdwatching in anyway!! It was funny up until we found how many rooms he rented. Yep he left us a few souvenirs of his stay instead of him taking the souvenirs back home!!! (I had the washer and dryer pulled away from the wall and left the dryer vent hole wide open for non-paying guest!!) Lesson learned!
The landscaping crew showed up donning their Wellies and were ready to get to work on the problem area! Can you tell which one is the boss and
which one is the grunt man?
They had some great ideas for this area, which includes a red mud slide.
I have always wanted one of those!!
Some underbrush had to be removed.
They are a very photogenic crew tho!
This one is going to be on their business card!!
Slumber party at The Fairy's Rest..............
We have all been ate up with cabin fever so we took off for the weekend to The Fairy's Rest. We had some good Rummy games. I think Papa Danny was cheating here!
Good ole pot of potato soup simmering. It was only 9 degrees outside!!
Colton's turn!
The free sectional sofa with sofa bed came in handy!
The kids were so wired they didn't want to go to sleep. Colton kept telling Emma that there were bears outside to scare her. There are bears outside, which is the problem!!!!
My little Princesses!
a sneak peek at some of the decor now
I love this picture. It hangs above "my" bed. Morgan says it reminds her of Danny and I kissing and my cousin Debbie looking on. She liked Danny at one time too!!!
My incredibly talented daughter made these for me with her embroidery machine. Embroidered E A T on the same toile fabric that I made the kitchen curtains from. Thank you!!
Dining room curtains
Toile dish detergent apron.
I had so much fun collecting all of this Blue Willow Ware last year!
I love the monkey soap dish!
Black transferware plates hung over the stove.
Rooster pics from a clearance sale at Joanne Fabrics
More willow ware on top of fridge
"If you want breakfast in bed, sleep in the kitchen" sign hangs in my room
My Sam Toft print hangs in the living room. I love camping trailers and I love Sam Toft. I thought this was appropriate for a vacation home. I also have the same print hanging in my bedroom at home ;-) with the rest of my Sam Toft collection
This is a pencil of The Alum Ridge Schoolhouse that still stands just a few miles from my home. Robin and I went to a yard sale at a house in the next county and there were sketches for sale. Of course I had to inquire about them........the artist was the man of the house who used to own a local restaurant that we frequented. He had been crippled in a motorcycle wreck and started drawing afterwards. Of course I had to have an original!!
Shabby table that really needs a shabby lamp!
My bathroom!
My bedroom curtains made from a $5 linen shower curtain!
Cool huh?
My bed with my ebay chenille bedspread.
I will get better pictures sometime and do some before and afters on my other blog. I still have some tweaking in most all the rooms.......not enough time in a day!!!!!
We all really did have a good time on our slumber party at the cabin. The weather was so frigid but we were toasty warm and had a change of pace that each of us needed. The kiddos are back to school tomorrow and everyone else back to work, including me. I have a big long list of to do's for myself!!!!!! I feel refreshed and less depressed so maybe I can get some of those things done now!! I hope you enjoyed your little tour.
