What was I thinking?
Then in my ADD infested mind I started pondering over my blog.......long story short I ended up at my first post and then started reading thru in chronological order but I stopped at this post on December 31, 2007 and laughed til I almost peed my pants. You see it was the last post of the year and I had some high hopes for the future year coming up! Boy did I think that lightening was going to hit me and cause some sort of electrical friction that was going to change around my brainwaves or I was going to drink some power drink that was going to change my chemical balance or should I say imbalance and turn me around into a totally different human being from what I am?
I mean I had some wild and crazy ideas for my new year that was approaching. I was acting as if it was somehow going to be different from all my previous years. Just go on over and read it and rest assured that you are reading a bunch of craziness that came from some outer body experience that I had that day. I mean why would I say things like that because it was already 12/31 and I posted on 11/7 that I was making socks for everyone for Christmas that year and they have yet to get socks. I have one sock from several different pair finished.........ADD you think? I just haven't had time....only 2 years.....they all have really big feet!!! Good thing Robin moved south or her toes would be getting cold awaiting socks from me!!!
I am trying to do better but it is a disease.....a really bad one......I need help! Please! I have finished a couple of old projects this year so maybe I will finish the other sock for everyone to have socks this year for Christmas!!
Robin called today and we had a good laugh together about how I never change and only make resolutions that can never be kept because I am just me. I can't be changed trust me I have tried!!
Do you guys ever look back at your older posts and wonder what you were thinking that day, or do all your wishes or intentions or resolutions come to fruition?
ps. I forgot to mention that among the many many things that I mentioned that would be done in 2008....about Leslie and my sil getting new sewing machines that year and Leslie being bitten by the sewing bug. Well we were just at a party at Leslie's house Friday evening and my sil was there and they discussed their sewing machines were not being used at all and that they were saving them for the next generation!!!!! See it's not just me is it?

I just had to show you these......

Now onto these hotties!! LOL!!
I recreated this picture of Danny and I in 2005 (good thing I dated it, I have already forgot) in charcoal from a little 3X5 sketch that was done in a token booth at Chuckie Cheese. The kinda booth that as adults you have to squeeze into in order to get all your parts in the picture! We look scared don't we? We were afraid we were not going have ears when the picture was finished!! When it was finished I couldn't believe how it turned out, it was by far our best picture together so I had to recreate it. At first I was going to do it in oils but I wasn't sure if I could pull that one off. Charcoal ended up being very easy. I was so pumped when I finished that I wanted to do everything in charcoal.
My children are scared of this picture because they say that the eyes follow them around the room. I just tell them that their parents always have and always will be watching them!!!!!
The truth is ..... I am self taught and have no idea how to fix the eyes ;-) That's OK I'll just stick to my story.....
See I definately don't look as good as I did as a baby! What do you think?

33rd wedding anniversary weekend!!

(the above photo was taken only about a year after we were married, hey I made my shirt pin tucks and all! you can click to enlarge)
We spent a nice long weekend at The Fairy's Rest..(TFR).....him resting.....me working!! It was raining buckets and buckets of rain so he could do nothing outside. He had no TV inside, only a portable DVD player that I thought to take for him and a couple good man flicks.....being the good wife that I am!!! He was happy til he watched them all. Guess I shoulda thought and took more for him to watch!
Friday we started with breakfast at IHOP YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY too!!!!! Ran a slew of errands. He left me at TJMAXX my favorite store in the world!!!! I found a lot of goods too. On to the home away from home. Saturday I did a lot of hanging things at TFR and making curtains more cleaning etc etc etc......then he said "I am bored. Let's go somewhere." Sure I had wanted to go into Danville to The Hobby Lobby for a while now..........OMG Another favorite store right up there with TJMAXX Found several great little things in there for TFR and he bought my Christmas present.................. drum roll Please............a dollhouse!!!! Yes a Vermont Farmhouse Jr. Oh Boy Oh Boy I have always wanted one of these. I have to say that he did not have to pay even half of the price shown on the link either!!! I have had so much fun with decorating TFR that he even commented to me the other day that it was my dollhouse....yes it is. This one will be a lot of fun too. I just have to get it put together now and then let the fun begin!!!

Ah Sweet Summertime!!
I think it is Spring Fever! Yes spring was not here this year, went from coooold last week to HOT this week. Too hot to stick your head out of the air conditioned house. Thank you Lord for providing us central air conditioning. A 30 something degree jump in the temp in one week makes it hard to cope. My dearest hardworking husband is out in the woods on his dozer and it is to be 100 today. I sure feel sorry for him, but he wouldn't have it any other way. I would definately be on the lake if I had my choice!
My cleaning schedule was really put to the test this week with the bum shoulder. I had the house in such good shape last week (hence the bum shoulder??) that it followed thru to this week with only a little fluffing needed. I should be utilizing my time today fluffing a bit more, but it will be fine until Monday when I hope to get back on track!!
I hope all of you are having a great time doing those summertime fun things today. I would love to be sitting by a creek with my feet dangling in the water, in the shade of course, with a good book. Or maybe writing my own book on the creek bank.
One of my most pleasurable memories of my childhood took place on a hot summer day like today. My cousins Bucky, Ivey and Gerilyn had come for a visit and my brother and I and the 3 of them played along the moss covered stream that ran thru our property at the old Mills family homeplace (where my father grew up) and we were living in at the time. We built a treehouse in the woods and played in the creek. I will never forget that soothing feeling of the cool water on hot tired feet and the soft moss covered rocks were like velvet. Ah those were the days!!!
Another childhood memory that I have been thinking about has surfaced recently and I feel the need to share this experience with my grandchildren. My father used to take his car or truck down to the creek to wash it on a sunny hot afternoon. There was a little dirt road that went down to a farm that was not traveled often that had a nice size creek running across the road not far from home that we used. The creek width was the same length as the car or truck so we just pulled in it and stopped. The creek was also deep enough that we could easily dip a bucket in it and wet the vehicle down, scrub it with the soap that Mom brought with us and then dip the bucket in again to rinse the car. Of course I was usually playing in the water while my parents did all the work!!! We could have used a waterhose at home but what a cherised memory I would have missed out on. Everytime we drive thru a creek I still think about that.
My husband works for a gentleman who owns a big farm near here that has a road going through a nice size creek that I plan to take my grandkids and my pick-up truck to soon. I think they will love it. I am sure they will be all about playing in the water just as I was but when they get to be my age maybe they will remember as I do what fun they had.
