Made in the USA....

I am not sure if I have ever told you or not but I love galvanized anything!

I especially love that this new really cool tub is made in the USA and it was only $14!!

I love this made in the USA $14 galvanized tub even better when it is filled with fresh sweet corn from my garden!!
My freezer is full to the brim with corn this year.
We got over 200 ears white corn from a truck farmer, who was picking his corn for the market, along side where Danny was bulldozing one day.
He gave us this corn for FREE!
Leslie helped me put it up for half and it just so happened that her freezer has went on the blink so guess where her corn is?
I barely have enough room left for my corn that has just started to come in but that's OK, we will just eat hers first to make room for more!! ;-)))
I made a wonderfully yummy corn pudding tonight for supper to go along with a $2 whole chicken that I roasted, mashed potatoes and a loaf of homebaked fresh from the oven bread!!!
My house sure did smell good with all this going on!!
Wow that was a good meal!!
My husband is thinking twice about sending me to work now!
I have an interview on Monday!!
I can't share very much with you right now.
I must be crazy to mess up this beautiful thing that I have going here.
Pray for me, Please!!
If it's in God's plan I will be back at work, if not I will be right here cooking for my husband!
I do have my eye on a nice new quilting machine though!!!!

Mr Big is handing out cigars, it's sextuplets!!!!

Standing watch over his new family!!
Carrie is a teeny tiny little thing but she has a big wide wing span and I am sure that I might see those wings spread a lot in the coming days because of her protecting her little uns!!

Danny raised her up this evening and found 6 babies all tucked up under her wings drying off!!
(and I mean really tucked under there!)
YAY!!!! YAY!!!!!
I have never had a hen to set on a clutch of eggs and actually hatch them!!
I am so tickled!!
There are 7 more eggs so there may be some more!
Best I remember this is day 21.
However, you know that I don't know much about that counting how many days it takes a chicken to hatch ;-))))
They are sooooo tiny and soooo darned cute!
I can't wait to see her running about the barn yard and the babies running along behind her!! Then Roxy running along behind them.....and there goes Carrie spreading those wings........
I am not sure who is more excited Danny or me???

Here is Mr Morangreggor in his cucumber and melon patch.
We have only 3 cukes and they have produced sooooooooo many, I have already made a big patch of lime pickles and will be making dill pickles tomorrow.

We have one Sugar Baby watermelon plant that came up but it is loaded with watermelons!!!
Drum roll please......
this is our first watermelons that we have ever grew!!!
Thank You Thank You!!!!!!

you guessed it...first ever cantalopes!!!
There are several on the one vine that are bigger than a softball and there are many little ones and it's still blooming!! Yay Yay!!!!
Babies everywhere!!!!
A big drum roll please...........

2010 vegetable garden is in!!

Well almost! I still have to finish the squashes, melons and cukes. The ground was finally dry enough and warm enough to get the late season crops in last night. We worked til dark and were both ready to kill over in our tracks. It was calling for rain today so we wanted to get it all in. The sun is shining beautifully now and I am going to try and finish the other planting and get this yard mowed this morning.

The early season crops are lovely and the weeds are just lovely too. We have some sorta weed here that we have no where else but the garden. It is vicious. The only good part is that it pulls up easily. That is when you have time, energy and a semi moist garden to walk in to do that pulling!!! For some reason that hasn't been the case very much this year ;-) Danny tilled the entire garden last night and I weeded everything but the peas..........................."OMG that's gonna be a lot of work!!"

The chestnut trees are Danny's. He set them out from chestnuts that came from Leslie's tree and he plans to set them out all thru the woods for the wildlife to have something to eat in the winter!! He's a good guy, right? Of course you know that he's a hunter too!!!!!

Hope you enjoyed a tour of my veggies and weeds!!

There's fog on the farm, rain on the roses and goats in the garden....

It's just another rainy, cool and foggy day on the farm.
I thought this was the perfect time to show you my favorite climbing rose.
I like it in the rain too!

It has ever changing color and is so interesting to watch the flower change as time goes on.

Turning from a dark orangy red.....

to a very light peach as the days go by.
Sorta like a woman's hair??
Sorry but mine has not reached that beautiful shade yet.
Maybe as my days go on?

See the fog?
See the goat tracks?
I woke up to 3 little boogers (not the babies) in my garden!
Urgh Urgh Urgh!!!
BTW...my babies are doing just great!
They are the friskiest ones I have ever seen!
3 days old and venturing out across the field from their mom, playing king of the mountain and running laps thru the pasture!! Sooooo cute!!

Do you see goldfish?
I do, for the first time this season.
I broke down and purchased a UV filter to go along with the biological filter that was already installed. The guy on youtube said it would only take 3 days for the algae to be removed but it has taken almost a week for ours. We have stubborn algae in these parts!!

Rain is also very pretty on my Smoke Tree!

Except when you are looking at the whole tree.
It's sorta scary if you ask me.
Looks like something out of a horror film that will grab you as you walk by and eat you!

I forgot to share with you my once beautiful irises.
They are still in color even though not at their peak any longer.

and these!
I am not liking the rain, even though we need it really bad.
Yesterday was spent in a constant state of vegetation.
I finally got a puff of air up my bottom about 8PM and with it came a burst of energy that threw me in a tailspin! I have one very very clean bathroom and laundry room this morning!
wooowoooo
However, I have lots of dirty dishes in my sink and dust bunnies all over the rest of the house!
Today is a repeat of yesterday,
other than waking up to goats in the garden, so I have to get started on some more cleaning.
I will have lots of outside chores soon enough and you can't drag me inside then!!
Have a great day!!
ps. I had no eggs hatch in my incubator. Zero. Nada.
Guess I am not a good old setting hen any longer.
My last batch was terrific at about 85% or more.
I am not sure what would have went wrong this time.
Everything should have been right.
I don't think I will try that again.
It's too much work turning those eggs so often.
Poor mama hen!!

In My Garden

My Prince Churming!

(when Morgan was a wee tot she would say Cinderella and Prince Churming, when her favorite Aunt Leslie got ready for prom she told the couple they looked like Cinderella and Prince Churming)

my shade garden is filling up nicely

it's amazing how many shade loving plants I was able to find hiding around here

that needed to be divided

star flower???

I am not sure!

this is one of my favorite plants
I was remembering it as being a monkey flower but

after googling it I don't believe my memory is serving me right

imagine that

if you know what this plant is please let me know

I have to do better with my garden journal

~~~
here we go again with new gardening ideas
"Roses"
I have several roses mostly climbers, I'll get pictures up soon,
but I only have a couple shrub type roses that I have managed not to kill over the past 9 years.
Our little local convenience store has a very small little plant shop on the side and they have the most gorgeous roses you have ever seen out there.
Leslie, Emma and I had to make a little girls only run to the market last evening and of course I had to have a couple of these babies......for starters!!
These roses are in 2 gallon pots and they are very healthy and they were 2 for $14.99
Can't find a rose of that quality at that price at a big box store!
I got a gorgeous plum colored "Intrigue" Rose and one called "Love" which is a beautiful red but the back of the petals are white reminding me of a candy cane! Both are floribundas.
This sure has got my wheels a rolling on figuring out just how many I can get on my property!
I can put climbers all the way around my back deck, and that may discourage Danny from wanting to put anything under there such as a lawnmower cart that has had a flat tire for 8 years now! Maybe I could run a rambling rose up over it!! HUM????
I also have ideas for many different places that I can stick a floribunda or a hybrid tea rose.
Then I can always remind him that he did in fact promise me a rose garden and a duck pond before we got married!!
My neighbor at The Fairy's Rest, Jesse, has the most beautiful roses all over his place. I have been drooling over them for a couple weeks now too.
Robin and I paid him a visit this week and she has also been inspired to plant some more roses!
It doesn't take a very big nudge for us to run out and try/buy a new plant :-))))))
Did they say snow?
Chasing lizards, watching the grass grow and things I've learned from fellow farmgirls!
I have told you before that I DON"T LIKE SPIDERS AND SNAKES!
OR LIZARDS!!!!!!
The Fairy's Rest has plenty lizards though and I don't like that.
Danny says when you live in the woods you are living in their habitat and you have to deal with them. Urgh!! This one looks like a baby crocodile.
This one was possibly pregnant and there will soon be all sorts of baby lizards around for me to enjoy! Yuck!
Well the pictures really didn't pick up on how green the yard was Sunday.
Yesterday much higher due to a really good warm rain on Monday.
I will be mowing soon enough. As if I have some free time to mow yet another yard.
OK gals.........I have had this vintage Easy Spin washer for a few years now. It worked but there was something wrong with the pump on it and Danny never would work on it for me so I let my sister-in-law talk me right out of it. Well she is married to Danny's brother Billy and she never could get Billy to work on it either. They were coming to our house one day and Billy called and asked me if I wanted the machine back.
hahahahahahaha
Of course I did! OMG girls I thought my husband was going to kill me! Seriously if looks could kill I would be dead right now cause I got "THE LOOK" from Danny when he saw that washing machine pull back in our driveway!! hahaha Then after he had to unload the "very heavy piece of junk" and put it in "His" garage to junk it up further with "My junk".............there was a lot of yada yada's coming from him for about 3 months!!!
Well my intentions were to plant flowers in it. I went Saturday morning and bought a tray of annuals and was pumped to get the machine filled with dirt and get them going.
Only one little problem here....................... well a big problem.......the machine is very very heavy and Danny was on an excavating job! So I thought and I thought and I said well he really wants that piece o junk out of his garage so with his job being only about 5 miles from home................I thought he would be more than happy to run home really quick and help me hoist this junk out to the designated area beside the barn and then run right back to work. I mean he is his own boss and he is entitled to a break, right? WRONG!!!! He flat out said NO!!
........so then I thought and thought some more and I was getting hotter by the minute, cause when I want to do something I want to do it right now. So I thought of my dear friend Terri and wondered how she would get it moved out there. Then it hit me that if I could someway get it on the Gator that maybe I could dump it off where it needed to be.
Not near as easy as it looks.
I did hoist it up on the back of the Gator ..................details would take way to long to tell you but I was just this much short of a herniation. I got it where it needed to be, came inside to sit and rest a minute and "Cool off".............when I hear a very familiar sound outside......a red Chevy truck pulling in my driveway.............
What???
No way???
I was really mad by then!!!
Danny~ well come on and get that stupid thang moved so I can get back to work.
me~ I have already moved it.
him~ Ha you did not.
me~ yes I did.
him~ There is no way that you could have moved that heavy thing by yourself.
me~ well look at it (pointing out the window to where it now sits)
him~ How the **** did you do that?
me~ The Gator.
him~ how did you even get it on the Gator?
me~ I was mad enough at you that I coulda moved my house if I wanted it moved!!!
Nuff said?
him~ (always having to get the last word in) you should get that mad more often!!
He turned around and went back to work!
I went to filling the machine with dirt and compost and plants.
I hope Terri is proud of me!!
The rest of the past week while I wasn't blogging or beating my husband up, has been spent doing the same type of things. Even when it rained on Monday I would run out between showers and dig up something and bring up on the porch and divide it and then run back out and get it replanted.
Robin and Eric were in for a couple days and Robin helped me all day yesterday!!
Gardening at both houses!
I liked having my gardening buddy back too!!!!
She bought me a car load of plants from Ga and she left out yet again this morning with her car loaded down from here!! Poor Eric has bruises on his feet from digging in the Ga clay.
The things we country gals make our spouses do???????
hahahaha
"Stop It I Said!"
My Body says "stop" and my mind says "go" and "go" and "keep on going"
........... til I fall dead in my tracks. Cause honey the mind don't listen to the feedback from the body. It truly thinks that I am 20 years old again. That I can mow, weed, transplant, plant, rake, mulch, clean, do laundry and any thing else that this crazy "Young" mind of mine tells this "Old" body to do.
After the big tiller and lots of wear and tear on my body.
Not hardly a weed insight!!
Ready for a pile of mulch now.
Can any of you young folks out there come help me put out that mulch?
I don't think I have it in me.
I have to take a lot of pictures of my garden as inspiration.
Sometimes I just sit and look at my pictures over and over.....like when there is about 30" of snow on the ground.......and I get new ideas of what I want to add or change, what's working and what's not.
I see a few weeds here, I better get out there and get them!!
My Bleeding Heart!
Frankie is my supervisor!
I did all this work today against my bodies will..........I have yet another cold.
I have zero energy! Zero energy all day long.
You wonder how I did it?
I was working so hard because of the beautiful weather.
It was a perfect Spring day.
I had only planned to get the yard mowed....no trim work........after mowing it with the riding mower it looked so good that I had to trim up with the push mower. Then I just had to spray some weed killer in my areas where I do not want anything growing. I do this very sporadic throughout the season cause I DON'T DO WEEDEATING!!!! Unless I really really have to.
Then before you knew it I was doing all those other things that I listed above.
OMG!!! The energy was soon in the negative zone.
I called my wonderful understanding husband.....who I knew would be so proud of me as soon as he rounded the curve near the house.........and I asked him what he wanted to bring home for supper...hehehe......he had already been thinking about Aly's Italian...woowoooooo........Calzones for supper!!!!!!!
Since the body was slap wore out I decided to hurry and get the rest of my plants in the ground and place some hay mulch around them, get the laundry in and fold it and put it away and then NO MORE!!!! I SAID YET AGAIN!!!!
Showered ate supper and had all intentions of sitting on my glider on my front porch and watch the hummingbirds ............................but I better just wash a load of my shampoo capes....cause you know someone might be able to talk me out of a haircut sometime soon.......I went to grab the capes out of the salon and I noticed that one of my Nubians may be "in season" hehehe
So back in to get out of my flip flops, don my barn boots and go take her to her boyfriend.......then I ended up in the hay barn gathering up all the loose baler twine off of the floor and straightening up in there........then into the hottub room to straighten up in there and treat the hottub................then suddenly I find myself spray painting some wrought iron hanging flower baskets. WHAT???????
What is wrong with me? Do I seriously have a mental/medical condition?
Yep it's called Spring Fever!!!!!
I had to make myself crawl back in the house while there was still about a good....no great hour of daylight with beautiful perfect weather out there and I could have done sooooo much more...........my mind said!!
Now get this........when Danny came in .................
me: "Can you tell anything I did around here today?"
Danny: "Yeah, you mowed the yard."
I didn't even bother...........................
