Looking for a little "Comfort & Joy"

(Country Home Magazine Photo)
Comfort:
I am searching for ideas to make my home cozy and comfortable during these winter months. The weather is so darned cold, however we are having a heat wave today 12 degrees this morning up from 5 yesterday! I have been dreaming of a warm and cozy living area like the photo above. It just seeps warmth and comfort. It is light and bright but so tastefully pulled together with the proper elements to make you, well me, want to curl up in that chair by the fire and read a good Debbie Macomber novel! Maybe sipping on a hot cup of Caramel Machiatto Coffee. Ahhhh the life!!!!
The decor is shabby and I feel that has a comfort factor in itself. You can lounge around and not worry about things getting dirty or scratched.
The home that I have been thinking a lot of, that lent me the most comfort, was the home of some elderly friends of ours here in Floyd Co. We used to come up here on the mountain when the girls were little and go fishing in their pond. They have a beautiful farm that should be featured in Country Living magazine. Their living room was the epitomy of comfort and cleanliness at the same time. Nothing fancy just pure warmth and comfort. Clean enough to eat off of the floors. I do know a lot of homes that clean but they tend to lack the comfort factor. I always thought her house was so clean because she had no children!! I thought it was comfortable because she lived on a farm!! I now know that it was a combination of the two....{{{{wink, wink}}}} and the fact that they are such incredibly nice God fearing people!! If you are a nice person that people want to be around everyone will find your home comfortable, warm and cozy even if you don't!!!!

Of course I like the photo above because of the picture of the sheep and the fact that farm animals do have a place in the home!!!! I am sure that my farm animals would find my living room right warm and cozy with just the right "Comfort Factor" right now too!!!! Right?

Is this not the coziest country bedroom EEEEEEVAH?????
Now do you know the best part?...............I have the room almost exactly like this upstairs! Of course it doesn't look this good but it could with a little imagination, inspiration (which I have here) and a lot of elbow grease!!! Check out those painted white floors!!! Shut up and hand me my paint brush!!
Joy:
I heard this on the radio the other day and it really struck a chord in my heart.
"If we would all remember the word 'Joy'.........and remember it like this:
J= Jesus 1st
O= Others 2nd
Y= Yourself 3rd
all the rest will take care of itself!
So instead of sitting here on this crazy laptop telling everyone about my dreams of a comfortable home, I think I will get up from here and make Danny and Colton's coondogs a new warm bed for their doghouses to keep them from freezing. Danny asked me last night if I would do that for him and he doesn't ask for much from me.....I however have him a mile long to do list for me!
While I am at my sewing machine I will go over to http://www.oneplace.com/ and put on one of my favorite speakers and listen to them teach me God's word. This is something that I have been doing for several weeks now and I find it's the best way for me to get my "Food for my soul"!!!!!
After that maybe a Debbie Macomber novel and a cup of Caramel Machiatto coffee on my oh just so so comfy sofa!
So here's to dreaming of better days!!!!
What gives you Comfort & Joy?

I had heard the joy thing at church the other day and was actually thinking about doing a weekly blog post on Fridays called "Finding JOY Fridays." I was gonna base it off the Jesus Others Yourself idea. I like that red beroom you found a pic of.

What inspiration! Now I am going to have to go and redesign all of the plans that I had for all of the additions to the house and cabin I want out back:))) A girl can dream during these freezing days, can't she?? Cute! Cute! Love that bedroom!
